Smell is such a powerful sense. According to people who actually study this type of thing, the olfactory sense is the most closely connected to memory and also possibly the most likely to invoke emotion. When my firstborn was 15 months old (that’s over 13 years ago!), we went to Orlando with my in-laws for a week. To this day, if I crack open a certain baby wash, I’m transported to the vacation rental we shared and the bathroom where he splashed and giggled. The vacation rental with white tile floors and a fire ant infestation.
Where am I going with this?
Our home is where the kids and I reside 90% of the average week for work, school, play. We breathe this air more than any other, and that’s why I’ve become attached to my diffusers. My most well-loved diffuser for esthetic reasons is this modern gold one from Saje. It works well; my only issues are the small tank and the mist is pretty minimal, so definitely doesn’t fill a large room. But I LOVE the esthetics, and it perfectly suits my mid-century modern style. My favourite diffuser for functionality is the NOW Ultrasonic Wood Grain Oil Diffuser. It puts out a ton of mist and lasts close to 6 hours, I believe, although I haven’t exactly timed it. And of course, I love that it is reminiscent of the mid century modern design as well.
I’m a fan of citrus oils for the most part as they smell so fresh and clean. My all-time favourite oil blend we have diffusing most of the time is this one, also made by NOW. It’s a subtle citrus blend with warm spicy notes and a hint of vanilla.
*Note: I don’t support any MLM essential oil companies; I simply like to breathe in some type of bliss throughout our school and work days. Plus I feel like it helps the ADHD brains among us to focus! Any affiliate links I post are through Amazon and I receive a tiny portion of any sales to help keep up this blog.
Love my diffusers and oils!! I have the same wood grain one. My dream is to have one in every bedroom and major rooms of the house.
Yes! I only have 2 yet but I want one in each bedroom for sure!
I don’t do the MLM oils either. I have a few NOW and I also like some from Eden’s Garden.
I’ll check out Eden’s Garden! I’ve also ordered from Rocky Mountain Oils and I’ve been pretty impressed with theirs too.
I love this!
My favorite oils smell these days are Lavender and cedarwood…
Margi, do these diffusers operate quietly enough for a bedroom?? I know they say they do but thought I’d ask.
Yes they are very quiet! Especially the small gold one from Saje. The Now brand one has just a very faint sound, like a whisper of air. Hope that helps!
